Compassion becomes most powerful when it reaches the people it is meant for. In the spirit of shared responsibility and care, CaraCares found its way to the learners and teachers of Gibusong Island in the Municipality of Loreto, Dinagat Islands, affirming that support for education must extend beyond instruction and into lived realities.
On December 12, 2025, at Tavern Hotel in Surigao City, Regional Director Asuncion led the turnover of learning and teaching support under the CaraCares initiative. The assistance, intended for the learners and teachers of Gibusong Island, was formally received by Schools Division Superintendent Florence Almaden together with school heads from the said community, ensuring that the support would directly benefit those on the ground.
The items turned over reflected both care and continuity.
Through the Philippine Public School Teachers Association or PPSTA, support for teachers included the following:
40 𝘴𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦
Learners received assorted goodies, simple gestures that carried reassurance and encouragement.
From CaraCares, additional support strengthened both teaching and learning.
For teachers, the support included:
𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯𝘬
𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳
𝘗𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘢𝘨𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴
For learners, the assistance covered:
𝘎𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘨𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘨𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 200 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴
Under the leadership of RD Asuncion, CaraCares continues to embody a culture of empathy, coordination, and purpose. By working closely with the Dinagat Islands Division and school leaders, the initiative ensured that compassion translated into tangible support for the learners and teachers who need it most.
CaraCares in Gibusong serves as a reminder that education is sustained not only by lessons and policies, but by people who choose to care. Through meaningful partnerships and thoughtful leadership, compassion reached its rightful recipients, strengthening both classrooms and community, one act of kindness at a time.
