DepEd Caraga proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of Coach Eldrige Troy Go with distinction as he received the Outstanding Palarong Pambansa Coach (Dagitab Award) during the Gawad sa Pagkilala sa Larangan ng Isports 2025, held on December 1, 2025, at the Paradise Garden Resort Hotel and Convention Center, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan. The event was national recognition honoring outstanding contributions to the advancement of school sports across the country.
Coach Goโs award stands as one of the eventโs top honors, affirming his exceptional dedication, strategic coaching, and unwavering commitment to nurturing young athletesโefforts that have elevated regional sports performance and inspired countless learners to pursue excellence in athletics.
In the landscape of Philippine school sports, Arnis has become one of the most dynamic and culturally rich disciplines. For Coach Go of the Butuan City Division, the sport is more than competitionโit is a lifelong passion that began the moment Arnis was formally introduced into the DepEd program in School Year 2010-2011.
As one of the pioneering participants, he entered the field with determination amid the challenges of a new sport. His first major competition was the 2010 Division Meet, where his team fell short of advancing. At that time, the Palarong Pambansa was held in Dipolog in 2011, but he did not yet qualify. Still, the early setback fueled his resolve as it ushered in the beginning of his coaching career in Arnis.
The following school year, 2011โ2012, became a turning point. Coach Go redeemed himself with stronger performances as he carried his team to advance from the Division Meet to the Regional Meet. This momentum ignited a sustained run of excellence that endured through School Year 2024โ2025.
He first entered the national arena as a Palaro coach during the 2012 Palarong Pambansa in Pangasinan. Since then, from 2012 to 2025, excluding the pandemic years, he has consistently served as a Palarong Pambansa coach, a testament to his unwavering dedication to developing young Arnistas in Caraga.
Coach Goโs achievement also mirrors DepEd Caragaโs strengthened sports development initiatives, made possible through the steadfast guidance and support of Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion, Assistant Regional Director Peter T. Escobarte Jr., ESSD Chief Edmund D. Mendoza, and Caraga Regional Sports Officer Dr. Jumer C. Carlon, whose collective efforts continually empower our coaches and athletes to soar to greater heights.
