𝐍𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 Excited about my first trip to Cebu, I quickly packed my bags. I arrived at the airport to find all flights to Cebu fully booked. I decided to take a ship instead. But again, no more tickets are available at the ship port. It felt like my world had crumbled beneath my feet. But I explored other options. I remembered there was a port in Lipata, Surigao City. I took the chance and headed there. After an arduous journey by land, I finally arrived at Lipata port. I felt relieved because tickets were still available for the ferry to Benit, San Ricardo, Southern Leyte. In no time, I arrived in Benit, then took a bus to Sugod in Southern Leyte. I arrived at eight in the evening but could not find any buses bound for Cebu. Faced with an uncomfortable uncertainty, I started losing hope of ever reaching my destination. 𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐥 That is when I remembered the "habal-habal" motorcycles. And so, off I went on a wild ride through the countryside, struggling to secure my balance and limbs on the back of a speeding improvised motorcycle and wary of mishaps. The long ride felt like an eternity. I finally arrived in Bato, Southern Leyte, but too exhausted and hungry. It was around eleven in the evening. 𝐌𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐞 I was so determined to get to Cebu, no matter what. Again, I waited for hours at the bus terminal, hoping, and praying for a miracle ride - and it happened. A family in a van stopped by to have cups of coffee. I immediately took my chance. I politely begged them for a hitch ride to Ormoc City, where I could catch a ferry boat to Cebu. What if they'd refuse? I was anxious. But to my pleasant amazement, they let me in! After another bumpy ride through the countryside, I finally arrived in Ormoc. I was so grateful to that kind family. I vowed to pay it forward someday. From Ormoc, I caught a fast craft to Cebu. It felt like a never-ending obstacle-ridden sea adventure, but I was not ready for it to end soon. Nonetheless, I arrived at my destination safe, sound, and excited. An officemate greeted me as I disembarked. I shared everything about my travails, then we laughed it all away. Due to exhaustion, I could not stay awake during the seminar. At one point, I drifted into a deep sleep. 𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 Just when I thought things could not get any worse, disaster struck! A giant sea monster emerged and attacked the ferry boat, capsizing it into the depths below. I woke up startled. But I realized it was all but a dream, a crazy, scary episode from the depth of slumber. What a dreamy adventure! Anyway, the seminar was a success, and I learned so much valuable information. But seeing a giant sea monster roused my imagination. Who knows, one day I might see it for real. After the seminar, I decided to extend my stay in Cebu to explore the city. I visited famous landmarks such as Magellan's Cross, Basilica del Santo Niño, and Sirao Gardens, where I sampled delicious local cuisine like lechon and sinigang. 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 As I was walking back to my hotel, I stumbled upon a street performance by a group of traditional Filipino dancers. Their graceful movements and lively music mesmerized me. I could not resist the beat, so I joined them. As I danced alongside the locals, I felt a sense of joy and belonging that I had never experienced before. It was the best dance I ever had, a special moment I would cherish for the rest of my life. And so, my funny adventure to Cebu ended. It was a trip I would never forget, filled with unexpected twists and turns, but it was a journey that brought me closer to the heart of Filipino culture and traditions. It was all worth it.
