AMONTAY, AGUSAN DEL NORTE, December 18, 2024 - The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) announced a groundbreaking initiative to elevate the skills of Filipino workers, during the 1st Regional Alternative Learning System (ALS) and Senior High School Technical, Vocational, and Livelihood Summit at Amontay Beach Resort, Agusan del Norte.
Regional Director Florencio F. Sunico, CESO III, revealed plans for a mandatory competency assessment for all Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates.
This move aims to ensure that Filipino workers possess world-class skills, bolstering their employability and competitiveness in the global job market.
"In the current global scheme, skills have become the new currency," emphasized Director Sunico. He stresed that the mandatory assessment will guarantee that TVET graduates meet industry standards, enhancing their value proposition to employers. This will empower Filipino workers to thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape and contribute significantly to national progress.
The Summit is part of a three-day event which began with a crash course for the TVL graduates on December 17, 2024, at Nasipit National Vocational School. The more than 400 participants from across Caraga will undergo a skills assessment process on December 19, 2024 for the National Certification (NC).
