Dr. Sunico opened his presentation by emphasizing the boundless potential of education. โEducation 5.0 has practically no barrier in the matrix of virtual space where everything is boundless and timeless, transcending languages, cultures, topics, social status, and methodology," he explained, contrasting this with physical, teacher-centric setup.
Highlighting the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on curriculum content and delivery, Dr. Sunico underscored the role of AI in fostering a culture of lifelong learning. He called on the education sector to embrace AI as a tool that can break barriers and prepare learners for the demands of an evolving job market.
In his presentation, Dr. Sunico brought a Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) perspective, focusing on policy and governance support to facilitate pathways to employment. He outlined five key pathways: career choice, vocational guidance, skills training, national assessment, and employment, all leading to one ultimate goalโemployability.
โThere are multiple pathways, but there is one destinationโthat is, employment,โ Dr. Sunico remarked, underscoring the economic objective of education.
Dr. Sunico also pointed to the resilience demonstrated during the pandemic, where individuals innovated to earn a living from home, as an example of how Education 5.0 can nurture employability. He argued that education does not end with completing academic requirements since it is "lifelong, life-deep, and life-wide."
Education 5.0 advocates for a paradigm shift, where learning evolves with technological trends to address the dynamic demands of the workforce while remaining accessible to all.
The Regional Assembly of Education Leaders continues to be a significant platform for sharing innovative ideas and shaping the future of education in Caraga. Sunicoโs insights challenged educators to align policies and practices with the emerging framework of Education 5.0, paving the way for a more inclusive and employment-driven educational system.
