The initiative aims to advance environmental stewardship by integrating tree planting into a major regional academic event, reinforcing DepEd Caragaโs commitment to developing learners who are not only academically competent but also environmentally responsible and socially conscious citizens.
Project One Million Tree is spearheaded by Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion and implemented by the Education Support Services Division (ESSD) under Chief Edmund D. Mendoza, with the support of Adrilene Mae J. Castaรฑos, PDO IV, and Jairha Anne T. Sususco, TA I, in coordination with the Schools Division of Agusan del Norte.
The activity gathered Schools Division Superintendents, Assistant Schools Division Superintendents, Chiefs of the Curriculum Implementation Division and other functional divisions, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and learners from the 12 Schools Division Offices.
The project was supported by Nelson Caranzo, Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer of DENR-CENRO, who provided 200 fruit-bearing seedlings planted within school premises and nearby community areas serving as billeting sites.
By embedding environmental action into RASD 2026, DepEd Caraga promotes collective responsibility for sustainable development while strengthening community partnerships. The initiative leaves a lasting legacy of greener school grounds, strengthened environmental awareness, and a unified commitment to safeguarding natural resources for future generations.
