BUTUAN CITY, April 10, 2025-The Education Support Services Division (ESSD) successfully conducted its First Quarter Coordination Meeting focused on reviewing and planning the Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF) Implementation on April 10, 2025, at Gold Hall.

Dr. Edmund D. Mendoza, ESSD Chief, led the meeting alongside key BEFF program owners: Engineers Sherwin P. Viajar, Mariel Sosmena, Richard Boque, and Patrick Manuel. The gathering was enhanced by the participation of Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office representatives—Engr. Nehru Sarmiento, Area Manager for Mindanao, and Mr. Rommel Balicanot—who provided comprehensive updates on Basic Education Facilities Programs specific to the Caraga Region.

Elaine Navarro, OIC-Chief, Finance Division delivered a crucial presentation on BEFF fund utilization for Fiscal Years 2024-2025, reinforcing the commitment to transparency and strategic alignment in educational infrastructure development.

In his opening statement, Mr. Mendoza emphasized the meeting's strategic importance: "This gathering allows us to reflect, evaluate, and enhance our project implementation strategies, especially in initiatives that directly impact our schools, including classroom construction, repairs, water and sanitation, and other vital facilities."

Representatives from all 12 Schools Division Offices (SDOs) actively participated, including their Chiefs, SGOD, and Division Engineers/Architects. Key agenda items featured comprehensive presentations on the BEFF Master Plan and detailed updates on both ongoing and completed school infrastructure projects funded through BEFF.
