𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
The Regional Monitoring Team was composed of Dr. Christie R. Pueblo (Dentist III); Rena Grace G. Tul-id (Nutritionist-Dietitian II); Charlestone A. Otaza (Technical Assistant II); Melody Lou G. Villaplaza (Technical Assistant II); and Joshua Lachica (Technical Assistant I). They commenced the activity with a courtesy visit to Siargao Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Manuel O. Caberte. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss monitoring objectives, share updates on health and sports programs, and align strategies for advancing learner well-being through strengthened collaboration and technical support.
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭: 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀
On July 1, the team visited General Luna National High School, led by Principal II Jonathan Gubantes, and Pilar National High School, headed by Principal I Reysan G. Tesiorna. Both schools presented their accomplishments and initiatives in promoting learner well-being, physical fitness, and a safe learning environment. The monitoring team reviewed official records and reports, validated compliance with DepEd standards, and held interactive feedback sessions with school personnel to address operational challenges and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮: 𝗪𝗔𝗦𝗛 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 (𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗦)
On July 2, the team monitored the WinS Program implementation in San Benito Central Elementary School under Principal I Samm Baylan, San Isidro Central Elementary School led by Principal I Melinda S. Castorico, Numancia Central Elementary School headed by Principal II Carmen G. Guilaran, and Sapao Central Elementary School with Principal I John Mark D. Petallo at the helm.
The team validated the availability and functionality of water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities, including compliance with the prescribed learner-to-toilet and handwashing facility ratios, functionality of WASH facilities, and the provision of essential hygiene supplies. Observations also focused on learners' proper handwashing, waste segregation, oral hygiene, and other healthy habits. In addition, the team also provided technical assistance to program coordinators to align facility management with DepEd policies and standards.
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯: 𝗦𝗕𝗙𝗣, 𝗦𝗠𝗛𝗣, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
On the final day, July 3, the Regional Monitoring Team visited Union Central Elementary School, under the leadership of Principal III Kem E. Abuton Jr., and Don Enrique Navarro Memorial School, headed by Principal IV Alda G. Minorca.
The monitoring focused on the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP), validating beneficiary records, feeding operations, nutrition tracking for nutritionally at-risk learners needing appropriate and timely interventions.
The monitoring also assessed the School Mental Health Program (SMHP) and its promotion of learner well-being and psychosocial support, alongside the School Sports Program, which encourages learners' participation in physical fitness and sports activities. The team reviewed relevant program documentation and provided technical assistance and recommendations to further strengthen program delivery and support.
𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀.
Beyond the scheduled monitoring, the regional team also visited Maasin Central Elementary School, guided by Principal I Christopher Salvalozam, to commend its notable facilities. The school's solar-powered water supply system, in particular, was highlighted for strengthening its WinS implementation. The team likewise visited Dapa National High School, led by Principal III Rex Mardy Labe, for the turnover of materials and resources intended to bolster the Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) Program.
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 & 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
The three-day activity demonstrated that the regional oversight is far more than compliance check. It serves as a collaborative mechanism for continuous quality improvement. By fostering open communication, sharing best practices, and providing timely technical assistance, the Regional Office and the Schools Division Office of Siargao continue to strengthen their shared mission of promoting healthy, safe, and inclusive learning environments.
Through sustained collaboration and continuous program improvement, the Department remains steadfast in its mission of nurturing every learner's well-being and overall development.
