The activity was organized in coordination with the Regional Journalism Coordinators and the School Paper Advisersโ Association presidents and serves as a vital component of the selection criteria for the search. This process culminates in the 2026 Regional Academic and Skills DevelopmentโRegional Schools Press Conference (RASDโRSPC), scheduled on February 16โ20, 2026, in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.
The interview sessions were divided into two parts, with the morning dedicated to OCJ nominees and the afternoon to SPA nominees. Student journalists presented their advocacies, accomplishments, and contributions to campus journalism, showcasing their skills in responsible reporting and journalistic writing. Meanwhile, school paper advisers articulated their leadership roles, mentoring practices, and initiatives in strengthening school publications, emphasizing their commitment to guiding young writers and promoting ethical journalism.
The active participation of both groups provided evaluators with valuable insights into the nomineesโ dedication, experiences, and impact on campus journalism in the region. For OCJ contenders, the interview served as an opportunity to highlight their growth as student leaders and their role in fostering critical and creative thinking among their peers. For SPA nominees, it was a chance to demonstrate how their mentorship shapes responsible campus journalists and sustains vibrant school publications.
The interview was led by CLMD Chief Bernabe L. Linog, underscoring DepEd Caragaโs commitment to excellence in campus journalism and the recognition of individuals who empower student journalists and strengthen school publications.
The interview results will be consolidated with other evaluation criteria, including written outputs, journalism performance, leadership records, and community impact. Final awardees for the Outstanding SPA and OCJ will be formally recognized during the RASDโRSPC awarding ceremony on February 19, 2026, in Nasipit, Agusan del Norteโone of the highlights of the week-long regional press conference.
โThrough this process, we ensure that the dedication of our advisers and the passion of our student journalists are duly recognized,โ said Mr. Linog.
