LIBERTAD, BUTUAN CITY, 03 February 2025 – 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟯, 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹, 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹, 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵.

The event welcomed esteemed guests, including Dr. Ana Marie Ruego, President of the Philippine Dental Association; Mr. Teo Libres, President of the Butuan City Parent-Teacher Association; and LCES teachers led by Principal Carlito P. Nietes. Also in attendance were EPS in Science Mrs. Mary Jean B. Ramirez, Acting CID Chief Dr. Maria Dinah D. Abalos, OIC SGOD Chief Fe G. Puspus, and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Minerva T. Albis.

This year’s Oral Health Month’s theme, “Pamilya Una Kong Dentista,” emphasized the important role of families in fostering proper oral hygiene from an early age, laying the foundation for overall health and well-being.

Learners eagerly lined up at the dental trough with toothbrushes and cups, kicking off the nationwide simultaneous Toothbrushing Drill in schools across the Philippines. They actively participated in the Oral Care demonstration session, showing enthusiasm, especially upon receiving free dental kits. Rhianna Rocero, a Grade 6 learner, shared, “Kabalo na ko sa ensakto nga pag-brush sa ngipon, ug ako ning himuon sa balay katulo sa usa ka adlaw,” expressing her commitment to practicing proper oral hygiene at home.

Philippine Dental Association (PDA) together with the Division Health Personnel highlighted the link between oral health and academic achievement, stressing that proper dental care enhances concentration, attendance and overall school performance.

In her speech, Dr. Minerva T. Albis urged Science and Health teachers to “integrate lessons on oral health into their curriculum.”

The celebration concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), solidifying commitments to promote oral health awareness and ensure continued access to essential dental care services for all learners.
