This three-day activity aims to strengthen the capacity of participants by fostering an in-depth understanding of the fundamental concepts of SBM and SGC based on the new policy guidelines under DepEd Order No. 007, s. 2024, superseding DepEd Order No. 83, s. 2012.
โThis activity marks a pivotal step in strengthening our school governance and fostering collaboration among educators, stakeholders, and communities. By embracing the principles of SBM and SGC, we empower our schools to create a more inclusive, effective, and learner-centered environment under a shared governance model,โ said Dr. Alejandro P. Macadatar, Chief of Field Technical Assistance Division (FTAD), in his opening statement. He explained further the scope, general guidelines, and the terminologies of the new policy.
On Day 1, Jonas H. Jomonong, Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) of Butuan City, discussed the comparative analysis of the said DepEd Orders, followed by the presentation of the SBM Self-Assessment Checklist by Dr. Macadatar, continuing Day 2 with his facilitation of workshops, discussions on case studies and frequently asked questions (FAQs). Monette Eustella Sa, Division SBM Coordinator of Cabadbaran City Division, explained the implementing guidelines on the establishment of the SGC, followed by a workshop on SGC membership and Macadatarโs presentation of the roles and responsibilities of the school heads, schools division offices (SDOs), regional offices (ROs), and the central office (CO). Day 3 highlighted the SGC Functionality Assessment Tool by Dr. Annie Silabay, Education Program Supervisor of the Agusan del Sur SGOD.
Dr. Macadatar assured the participants of the full support of Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion, emphasizing that the Regional Office remains committed to providing the necessary guidance, resources, and interventions to ensure the successful implementation of SBM and SGC across all schools in Caraga.
