This quarterly meeting brought together Regional Office GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) members and alternates, along with Division GAD Coordinators and their designated representatives, as well as members of the GFPS Secretariat and the Program Management Team. It aimed to monitor and assess the GAD accomplishments across all school divisions in Caraga, aligning with DepEdโs continuing thrust toward gender-responsiveness in education.
The meeting also served as a venue to address pressing gender issues in the regional education landscape collectively. Among the key issues identified were: limited knowledge on integrating gender perspective in school leadership; absence of a DepEd GAD pool of trainers equipped to provide technical assistance in the DepEd context; and a weak data collection and management system concerning GAD-related information.
In response, the Region is committed to pursuing specific outcomes, including the development of gender-sensitive DepEd officials and administrators through active participation in various GAD-related programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) and capacity-building efforts; the establishment of a DepEd Caraga GAD pool of trainers; and the creation of an integrated and unified database on sex-disaggregated data (SDD) to guide evidence-based gender analysis and planning.
As part of the reporting mechanism, each SDO was allotted five minutes to present its First Semester GAD Accomplishment Report. Presentations were delivered in slide format and formally addressed to the plenary, providing a space for cross-sharing of best practices, innovative approaches, and lessons learned. Overall, the activity reinforced DepEd Caragaโs commitment to promoting inclusive, equitable, and gender-responsive education by continuously enhancing its policies, systems, and leadership capacities.
