The TUKLAS-Mathematics and Computational Sciences project of Caraga, created by the brilliant students of Don Ruben E. Ecleo Memorial National High School of SDO-Dinagat Islands, has been selected as one of the eight elite projects that may advance to the globally esteemed Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in the United States.
With this inspiring triumph, students Kurt Lawrence B. Cuaton, Ehdraembrahnt H. Castro, and Kriscel Mae J. Rollo, under the guidance of their dedicated coach Engr. Doraine Doreina L. Lawangon brought pride to their school, the Caraga Region, and the Philippines.
Their project stood out among numerous entries, earning them the titles of Best Project and Best Research Poster at the Fair and securing their position as Finalists at the upcoming Regeneron ISEF.
In recognition of their outstanding achievement, the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, Inc. has generously awarded the team a cash prize of P10,000.00. This unparalleled support underscores their dedication to fostering a culture of scientific innovation and academic excellence among Filipino youth.
DepEd Caraga Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO IV, congratulated the Caraga Team. "To our young scientists and their coach, congratulations on your well-deserved success," she said while monitoring the activity online. Director Asuncion also acknowledged the strong support of external and internal stakeholders, local government units, and parents. "Their collaboration and encouragement are indispensable in achieving this feat," she added.
Assistant Regional Director Pedro T. Escobarte Jr. also commended the regional and division officials for their remarkable contribution to the achievement and for setting the gold standard of academic and scientific pursuit. "We are confident that your continued support will bring further honor to our region," he stressed.
CLMD Chief Bernabe Linog, Regional Science Coordinator Kevin Hope Salvana, and Regional Math Coordinator Rhea J. Yparraguirre accompanied the team in Manila. Their journey to the Regeneron ISEF represents their success, highlighting the bright future of science and technology education in the Caraga.
The National Science and Technology Fair is an annual event that showcases the best and brightest young scientific minds from across the Philippines, providing a platform for students to present their research and innovations in science, math, and technology.
