Led by DepEd Caraga Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO IV, in coordination with the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) under Chief Flordelisa R. Dalin and the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) under Chief Bernabe L. Linog, the event also featured an Indigenous Peopleโs Education (IPEd) training on April 21โ22, 2024, at the same venue.
As the next step following the pilot implementation of the Matatag Curriculum in five schools in Caraga since September 2023, this training underscores DepEd Caragaโs commitment to implement the Matatag Curriculum across all public schools in 2024โ2025, particularly the curriculum for kindergarten, grade I, grade IV, and grade VII.
More than 400 participants attended, composed of division trainers, school leaders, resource persons, the program management team (PMT), and the regional top management.
In her message, Director Asuncion reminded the school heads that, aside from providing technical assistance to the teachers, their jobs โshould encompass teaching and learning processes inside the classrooms and to plan for the implementation of the Matatag Curriculum.โ She stressed that 70% of their time should be spent on instructional leadership, adding that this training and school planning must constitute an integrated implementing action. It meant that the school improvement plan (SIP), annual procurement plan (AP), and work financial plan (WFP) should align with the effective implementation of the curriculum and the delivery of educational goods and services.
Director Asuncion encouraged the school leaders to โbe creative in implementing the Matatag Curriculum,โ confident that they can โprovide a holistic, high-quality education that prepares our students to become resilient, adaptable individuals.โ She underscored the need for trainers to transfer their knowledge and skills to all the teachers and translate these into effective teaching and learning processes. โIt is your responsibility to implement the Matatag Curriculum. It is your accountability to make it effective and produce learning outcomes," she emphasized.
After the plenary sessions, the participants proceeded to breakout sessions into eighteen groups according to their grade levels.
