During the turnover ceremony held today, July 4, 2025, the Bureau of Alternative Education (BAE) Senior Education Program Specialists, Ms. Irene Barzaga and Ms. Iza Rubiales, officially handed over valuable resources to Dr. Albis. These kits are designed to empower adult learners under FELP with essential financial knowledge and skills, a vital step towards enhancing their socio-economic well-being.
During the event, Dr. Albis underscored the need for ALS teachers to hit the ground running. She urged them to proactively study the newly acquired course kits even before the scheduled National Orientation on their utilization. "Our ALS teachers should study first while waiting for the conduct of the National Orientation on how to utilize the Course Kit so that implementation is no hit and miss," Dr. Albis stated, highlighting the importance of thorough preparation to avoid any stumbling blocks in the program's rollout.
This directive from Dr. Albis reflects a commitment to a seamless and effective integration of financial literacy into the FELP. By encouraging early self-study, the Butuan City Division aims to maximize the impact of the pilot program, ensuring that teachers are well-versed in the materials and pedagogical approaches before formally delivering the lessons to their adult learners.
Ms. Barzaga and Ms. Rubiales, representing the BAE, expressed their confidence in the dedication of Butuan City's ALS educators. They reiterated the Bureau's support for the division's proactive approach, noting that well-prepared teachers are fundamental to the success of any new educational initiative, especially one as crucial as financial literacy for underserved communities.
The pilot course kits are a significant addition to the FELP, which provides out-of-school youth and adults with alternative pathways to education and functional skills development. The integration of financial literacy is expected to equip these learners with practical knowledge of budgeting, saving, debt management, and basic entrepreneurial concepts, enabling them to make informed financial decisions and improve their overall quality of life.
Butuan City Division's emphasis on pre-orientation study for its ALS teachers sets a strong precedent for the nationwide implementation of these financial literacy courses, aiming for an efficient and impactful learning experience for all FELP beneficiaries.
