Through its Alternative Learning System (ALS) program under the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD), headed by CLMD Chief Bernabe S. Linog and ALS focal person Josephine Chonie Obseรฑares, DepEd Caraga spearheaded the โPathways to Learning: School Supplies Drive for PDL, Drug Victims, CICL, and Former Rebel Returnees ALS Learnersโ on June 20, 2025, at the Butuan City JailโMale Dorm Covered Court in Libertad, Butuan City.
The program provided school supplies and learning materials to persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), children in conflict with the law (CICLs), drug rehabilitation clients, and former rebel returnees (FRRs) enrolled in the ALS program. This initiative is a concrete step toward advancing educational equity. By equipping learners with essential tools, the program not only lessens their financial burden but also nurtures motivation, restores dignity, and strengthens their sense of belonging in the learning community.
Providing educational resources through this initiative is more than a distributionโit is an act of hope. It opens doors to learning, fosters a renewed sense of purpose, and builds tangible pathways to a brighter, more empowered future for ALS learners who deserve every opportunity to rebuild their lives.
As DepEd Caraga continues its mission of leaving no learner behind, programs like this serve as a testament to the transformative power of educationโone that breaks barriers, uplifts lives, and ignites change from within.
