AGUSAN DEL SUR, January 20-23, 2026 — 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗘𝗱) 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗖. 𝗔𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗢 𝗜𝗜𝗜, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿, 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿.

𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗗 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗡𝗨 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀. The activity was facilitated by the Education Support Services Division (ESSD), led by Chief Dr. Edmund D. Mendoza, in coordination with the Health and Nutrition Unit (HNU), which implements the Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd (OKD) Programs, and the School Sports Program, supervised by Dr. Jumer C. Carlon, Medical Officer IV. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀. The monitoring team included Rena Grace G. Tul-id, Nutritionist-Dietician II; Charlestone A. Otaza, Technical Assistant II for the School Mental Health Program, Children and Adolescent Program, and temporary Regional Coordinator for the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Program; Leah Ellen V. Yaoyao, Technical Assistant I for the School Mental Health and National Drug Education Programs; and Al Jhon Fritz M. Otadoy, Technical Assistant I for the School Sports Program. Each member conducted monitoring activities aligned with their respective programs. 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀. Over the four-day activity, the team visited ten schools: Sibagat National High School, Pasta Elementary School, Sayon Elementary School, Libertad National High School, West Bunawan National High School, San Pedro Integrated School, San Vicente National High School, Nato National High School, Salug National High School, and Salimahan IP School. The team was accompanied by health and sports coordinators, technical assistants from the Schools Division Office, and district nurses assigned to the selected schools. 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀. Using structured monitoring tools, the team gathered observations on program implementation. Where gaps or areas for improvement were noted, technical assistance was provided to help school coordinators sustain and enhance program delivery. The monitoring emphasized guidance and support rather than evaluation, aiming to motivate schools to implement programs effectively, even with limited resources. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆. One of the highlights of the monitoring was the challenging journey to Salimahan IP School in Esperanza, the last school visited. From Bayugan City, the team traveled nearly three hours via pick-up truck and “habal-habal” motorcycles, crossing two rivers while using floating bamboo rafts. “The monitoring activity was more than just reaching the schools,” said a team member. “It was about ensuring that learner support programs in health and sports are effectively implemented, providing guidance where needed, and fostering collaboration among school coordinators.” 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. The regional monitoring activity meticulously assessed program implementation, provided technical guidance, and strengthened collaboration among schools in Agusan del Sur, reinforcing DepEd Caraga’s commitment to learner support, continuous improvement, and the holistic development of learners across the region.
