Cebu, Philippinesโ€”The Opening Ceremony of the Palarong Pambansa 2024 began with a vibrant Saludo March featuring athletes from the National Academy for Sports, Philippine Schools Overseas, and regions nationwide.

The ceremony's highlight was the Saludo March, where athletes paraded in colorful uniforms representing their regions. Each delegation showcased unique marching styles and hand gestures reflecting its local culture. For instance, the Caraga Region, with a strong contingent of 1,093 participants including 497 athletes, 104 coaches, 23 chaperons, 132 officials, and 337 committee members, wore white jogging pants, gloves, white caps, and white shirts with a touch of golden yellowish-red, which depicted their tagline "Go for Gold, CaraGold!"

Marching styles varied, with some regions performing precise, military-style steps and others incorporating traditional dance movements. Hand gestures, from sharp salutes to graceful motions, added to the spectacle.

As athletes saluted the audience, officials, and competitors, they embodied the spirit of sportsmanship and unity. The Saludo March highlighted the event's discipline, respect, and camaraderie values.

Palarong Pambansa's return to Cebu celebrates its growth and the inclusion of new participants, continuing to be a cornerstone of youth sports development in the Philippines. ย
