SOCORRO, SURIGAO DEL SUR, February 19, 2025—𝗜𝗻 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗘𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝘇𝗮 𝗔. 𝗟𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼, 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗖. 𝗔𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘇𝗮 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝘂𝗰-𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗴. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁, 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝘁𝗮𝘇𝗮, 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝘂𝗹-𝗶𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗵 𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗬𝗮𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗼.

This visit was part of a Medical, Dental, Nursing, and Nutrition Outreach Program held in Socorro, Division of Siargao, from February 17 to 21, 2025. The initiative aims to promote health awareness and ensure students are physically prepared for international assessments.

This program underscored their commitment to supporting students from Sitio Kapihan and those from Socorro National High School, Nueva Estrella Central Elementary School, and Socorro Central Elementary School who are preparing for an international assessment, aligning resources and strategies to enhance student preparedness, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among local government and educational institutions in creating a nurturing learning environment for all students, teachers, and non-teaching staff in Socorro.

One of the activities included informative lectures on essential topics related to student well-being, such as Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH), Mental Health, and the National Drug Education Program (NDEP). These sessions were led by experienced professionals Charleston Otaza and Ellen Yaoyao from the Regional Office and Concon Delacruz, the Nurse NDEP Coordinator for the Dinagat Division, Joe Pete Tiu, the SMHP, and Nurse Tantan, the NDEP Coordinator for Siargao, assisted them. These discussions equipped students with vital information about healthy relationships, stress management, and the risks of substance abuse, providing a safe environment for them to ask questions and deepen their understanding of these critical issues.

In addition, students were served hot meals, including rice and chicken soup enriched with malunggay, fresh juice, and cookies. The School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) ensured that students received nutritious, balanced meals, which are crucial for their health and academic success, all under the guidance of ND Rena Grace Tul-id. This initiative aimed to address malnutrition and encourage healthy eating habits.

At the same time, the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools (WINS) program was implemented, focusing on practical skills and knowledge to enhance hygiene and prevent diseases. Dr. Anna Liza A. Lerio and Nurse Haidy Arciga, the Nurse WINS Coordinator for the Siargao Division, led tooth-brushing activities that highlighted the importance of good oral hygiene. Students learned proper brushing techniques and the benefits of maintaining healthy teeth. Another engaging activity involved soap making, where students created their soap and recognized the significance of handwashing in preventing the spread of germs and promoting personal hygiene.

Additionally, Siargao SGOD Chief Dr. Harem Labe Taruc, representing Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Manuel O. Caberte, played a significant role in this initiative. The dedicated PSDS of Socorro East District, Dr. Sarachen Rivas Labe-Sangco, and PSDS of Socorro West District, Dr. Girlie Joi Bamba, facilitated the visit, reinforcing the collaborative effort to support educational initiatives.

The dental outreach program began with simultaneous services and was packed with valuable lectures, hands-on activities, and essential healthcare services, benefiting students and promoting a healthier school environment.
