𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘆𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗴-𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗹 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯.

Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion welcomed this heartwarming development as a tangible result of the joint venture of the Regional Office and Schools Division Offices, in cooperation with the Local Government Units and upon the guidance of the DepEd Central Office through Undersecretary Revsee Escobedo that pushed for the Learning Continuity Plan for Socorro Bayanihan Services Inc. (SBSI) learners.

RD Asuncion, in her message to the regional officials during the Seminar-Workshop on Policy Analysis and Policy Review on the same day, acknowledged the efforts of the personnel and education leaders of Siargao Islands led by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Karen L. Galanida, CESO V, for ensuring the full implementation of the plan. She told the assembly that the first flag-raising ceremony for the returnees was an emotional experience as she pondered on the children’s will to recapture their dreams that have eluded them for the past four years.

The event highlighted the donning of School IDs of the returning learners, the introduction of PEPT passers, and conducting of the Literacy Program featuring the Reading Adventure and Story Telling activities facilitated by the Reading Ambassadors led by no less than SDS Galanida, with the assistance of CID chief Gemna G. Pobe, SGOD Chief Harem Labe Taruc, PSDS Sarachen Rivas Labe-Sangco, PSDS Julius Tesiorna, PSDS Girlie Joi Bamba Sanico, EPS Randy Rudilla, EPS Florangel Arcadio, and EPS Rilyn Raza.

The learners also enjoyed meal packages through the Feeding Program sponsored by the Regional Office and the Philippine Association of Schools Superintendents Caraga led by its current president, Dr. Minerva T. Albis, Schools Division Superintendent of Butuan City.

Through generous contributions from local government units, partners, and stakeholders, the learners received school supplies and other items through the Distribution of Gifts for Learning for SBSI Learners at Del Pilar Elementary School. The learners also availed the transport services such as an Army truck, PNP mobile car, LGU MENRO dump truck, TAFIMCO, and SOEMCO delivery trucks, through the generosity of Mr. Lou Dizon.

Moreover, Director Asuncion deployed 18 newly assigned teachers to teach SBSI learners in Elementary, Junior High School, Senior High School, and Alternative Learning System, or ALS.

RD Asuncion expressed her commitment to sustaining this momentum of ensuring each learner receives the guidance and resources needed to thrive academically and personally. She also acknowledged that new challenges have emerged and that the Department will always continue to pursue all means to address the educational gaps in the Siargao Islands and the entire Caraga region.
