Leading the momentous Closing Ceremony on April 11 at the Barobo Municipal Gym were DepEd Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion, Barobo Municipal Mayor Hon. Joey S. Pama, Nasipit Municipal Mayor Roscoe Democrito B. Plaza and his wife Joy L. Plaza, Schools Division Superintendents Lorenzo O. Macasocol (Surigao del Sur), Jeanie L. Mativo (Agusan del Norte), Imelda N. Sabornido (Cabadbaran City), and Teresa M. Real (Bayugan City); Assistant Schools Division Superintendents Bryan L. Arreo (Dinagat Islands) and Hector DN Macalalag (Agusan del Norte); along with DepEd Regional Office personnel, Technical Working Groups, coaches, advisers, mentors, and student journalists.
In his heartfelt opening message, SDS Macasocol smiled and said, โMy heart tells me to keep you here in Surigao del Surโweโre enjoying hosting this event just as much as youโre enjoying being part of it.โ
RD Asuncion brought excitement as she officially announced that the next RASD-RSPC will be hosted by the Municipality of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. Quoting, โIf you plan well, half of your work is done,โ she emphasized the crucial role of preparation in achieving success. Her words reminded everyone that a well-crafted plan guides the journey and ensures smoother execution, minimizes setbacks and amplifies success.
She boldly challenged the school paper advisers and student journalists, declaring, โWeโre aiming highโletโs secure a spot in the Top 5 at NSPC 2025 in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur!โ Her words sparked excitement and determination, rallying everyone to rise to the challenge and strive for excellence.
The air was charged with excitement and anticipation from the opening parade to the awarding ceremonies. Delegates poured their energy into individual and group categoriesโfrom news writing to photojournalism, radio broadcasting to collaborative publishing. The competition was fierce, but so was the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.
Tears of joy and pride flowed freely as winners were announced during the ceremony, with schools cheering for their champions and coaches beaming with pride. The atmosphere was electricโfilled with applause, embraces, and promises of return.
As the sun sets on this yearโs RSPC, it leaves behind a list of winners and a trail of stories, lessons, and memories that will inspire a new generation of campus journalists.
