𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐩𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐊–𝟑 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 (𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐍), 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐒𝐎𝐑). Spearheaded by Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO IV, through the regional Curriculum and Learning Management Division led by Chief Bernabe L. Linog, the event took place at the Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center in Butuan City from May 20 to 25, 2024. Attended by 220 participants composed of CID chiefs, Division Education Program Supervisors, English Coordinators, ELLN Coordinators, and K to 3 Teachers, the training provided them with a deeper understanding of the science of reading as they delved into research-based practices and evidence-backed instructional strategies, which are crucial for effective reading instruction. The activity allowed the attendees to explore the processes of early literacy and numeracy, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension strategies, and numeracy foundations, which are critical elements of early education. Moreover, the training engaged the participants' abilities to effectively communicate the principles of the Science of Reading to other educators, even as it provided a platform for trainers to collaborate and network, promoting a culture of cooperation and shared learning. The participants also crafted action plans for School Learning Action Cells (SLAC) tailored to their respective contexts, further strengthening the sustainability and practical application of the training's outcomes. The event featured interactive workshops, group discussions, and firsthand activities led by a program management team, speakers, examiners, and facilitators, namely Bernabe L. Linog, Gladys S. Asis, Maria Consuelo C. Jamera, Elena N. Capangpangan, Edmund D. Mendoza, Junnah B. Tiu, Marcelino M. Ahon Jr., Alma P. Llanos, May Anne Flores, Editha Deguino, Fe M. Dizon, Lelani R. Abutay, Marilyn C. Jumamil, Rhoda M. delos Santos, Loinda S. Guerta, Prelyn Sandimas, Rucien Willa Galinato, Marites T. Penera, Ricky Pedralba, Cecilia Saclolo, Isabel Loayon, Michael Tadulan, Amelia T. Ulit, and Norberto Cullantes. As the training concluded, participants expressed their enthusiasm and positive experience, highlighting their commitment to applying the new knowledge and strategies in their respective divisions.
