BUTUAN CITY, March 05, 2025โ€”Department of Education (DepEd) Caraga Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion warmly welcomed key officials from the DepEd Central Office on Tuesday morning, March 4, to discuss critical concerns related to school buildings across various divisions in the region.
The visiting team, composed of Engineer Wilfredo Alarcon, Engineer Elvie Valeza, and Architect Junelson Cullado, engaged in a comprehensive dialogue with regional DepEd officials, focusing on the current status, structural integrity, and ongoing rehabilitation efforts of school facilities throughout Caraga. With the regionโ€™s vulnerability to natural disasters, the discussion highlighted the urgent need to identify areas for repair and reconstruction to ensure that learning spaces remain safe, resilient, and conducive for students and teachers.
Further strengthening the conversation, several Schools Division Superintendents actively participated in the meeting, including Dr. Minerva T. Albis from Butuan City, Josita B. Carmen, CESO V from Agusan del Sur, Dr. Lorenzo O. Macasocol, CESO VI from Surigao del Sur, Dr. Marilou B. Dedumo, CESO V from Surigao City, Florence E. Almaden, CESO VI from Dinagat Islands, and Dr. Gregoria T. Su from Tandag City. Each superintendent shared valuable insights and updates from their respective divisions, fostering a collaborative atmosphere to improve school infrastructure and ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all learners.
This high-level engagement reflects DepEd Caragaโ€™s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its learners by proactively addressing infrastructure challenges through strategic planning and inter-agency collaboration.
Moving forward, the Central Office team and regional officials agreed to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, fast-track necessary repairs, and mobilize resources to support ongoing and future rehabilitation efforts. United by the shared goal of building back better, DepEd Caraga remains dedicated to creating disaster-resilient learning spaces capable of withstanding the impacts of climate changeโ€”while continuing to deliver quality education for every Caraganon learner.
