The initiative, named DepEdโ€™s 236K Trees โ€“ A Christmas Gift for the Children, witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 47,678 public schools across the country joining hands in this synchronized effort.
In SNNHS, the event commenced with a short opening ceremony graced by esteemed personalities from the regional office. Dr. Elmer Augustus Conde led the regional monitoring team alongside the Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Lorenzo Macasocol, School Principal Dindo P. Gipala, the personnel from the Division Social Mobilization and Networking Office (SOCMOB), and representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Local media, the school administration, department heads, teachers, and enthusiastic student participants were also integral in making this initiative a success.
As a symbol of their commitment and allegiance to the cause of environmental preservation, the participants affixed their signatures to a Commitment Wall.
The activity involved various school clubs and organizations such as the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), Gulayan sa Paaralan, Diwa ng Kabataan, Ang Sinagtala, Radiant Hilltop, Yes-O Clubs, Mathenik Guild, DRRM Clubs, Boys Scout of the Philippines, Girls Scout of the Philippines, Liturgical Mass Choir, Mathฯ€ters, Natural Science Club, Integrated Science Club, Red Cross Youth, DRR Club, DLC Club, and WINS Club that planted a variety of 33 native trees protected by tree guards for which the SNNHS, through the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) Department, provided the materials.
Despite adverse weather conditions, the unwavering dedication of SNNHS and other participating schools stands as a testament to their commitment to safeguarding the environment and fostering a brighter, sustainable future for all.
