𝙱𝚢 𝙹𝙴𝙽𝙽𝚈 𝙲. 𝚂𝙰𝙿𝙾𝚁𝙰𝚂 𝚂𝙿𝙴𝚃-𝙸𝙸 𝚃𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚜𝚊𝚢 𝙲𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚕 𝙴𝚕𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚊𝚛𝚢 𝚂𝚌𝚑𝚘𝚘𝚕 𝚂𝚙𝚎𝚍 𝙲𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝙽𝚊𝚜𝚒𝚙𝚒𝚝 𝙽𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚑𝚠𝚎𝚜𝚝 𝙳𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚒𝚌𝚝 𝙰𝚐𝚞𝚜𝚊𝚗 𝙳𝚎𝚕 𝙽𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚎 𝙳𝚒𝚟𝚒𝚜𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀. 𝗪𝗵𝘆? 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝘄𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵, 𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗽, 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗴, 𝗲𝘁𝗰. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲: 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺. 𝗪𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝘁 – 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. Many experiences become precious memories over the years. We learn from our students as we listen to them. And we give more when, as we teach, instruct, and guide them in their daily tasks, we open our hearts and mind to them as a friend, a coach, or a teacher with a heart. The COVID-19 outbreak was an eye-opener. Nobody expected the disruption of classes, let alone the changes in the school calendar. Months and days passed, and teachers, parents, and students had a tough time adjusting to new modalities of learning, such as remote/online, radio and television-based instruction, and blended learning. This situation created misconceptions as many people thought the pandemic had given teachers a much easier time on their jobs. But the opposite is true: we continued educating their kids beyond working hours. Thanks to group chats and other social media platforms allowing students convenient communication with their teachers any time they want. In addition, the new modalities demanded great effort and time for us to learn the technologies and adjust our teaching methods or pedagogies. Endless webinars and online meetings can sometimes drag us to unwanted stress levels. After two years of the pandemic, schools have gradually returned to face-to-face classroom instructions. However, this transition brought new difficulties since we still struggle to balance adhering to protocols and maintaining safe physical distance from our students. And we still need to print voluminous learning materials and other paper works, which is labor-intensive and time-consuming. It’s a great responsibility for the heroic, and that’s why I appreciate people saying teachers are the real superheroes. Above all these, we teachers rarely demand recognition and awards of grandeur except for fair monetary compensation to support our families, the respect of their students and their families, and the gratitude of the larger community. Our profession will always demand more from us because the teaching and learning process never ends. Indeed, we have given more than we’ve received, but still, to our students, we are giving more than words. 🅴🅽🅳 𝘕𝘉.
