I write important details, events, names, places, articles, and decrees and read them over and over again.” It is also because of the support and constant guidance of my coach, Marife I. Curada, that made this win possible”, Akiya said with teary eyes and trembling lips as she bested the other 11 contestants during the battle of wit and intelligence. The first ever face-to-face PopDev Quiz Bee in Caraga Region after 2-year pandemic turned out to be a gathering of some of Caraga’s brightest junior and senior high school students, who displayed their vast knowledge of current events and social issues. It was participated in by representatives from the 12 Schools Division Offices (SDOs) with full support from their respective Education Program Supervisors and Population Commission Officers. Gracing the occasion were Alexander A. Makinano, CSEE, Regional Director of PopCom Caraga; James G. Osmulo, DepEd Caraga Regional Araling Panlipunan Coordinator; Lucila O. Piedad and Alconcita Y. Putillano, DOH Representative and Quiz Consultants; Ingrid M. Masancay, Bislig City PopCom Officer-III, and other PopCom officers both from the regional and city offices. Under the supervision of Education Program Supervisor Marino L. Pamugas, the Surigao City delegation bagged 1st Place in the Online Oratorical Speech Contest (that focused on Teenage Pregnancy and Gender Equality issues) and PopDev Quiz. The top three winners received cash prizes and certificates, with the representatives to the National Festival of Talents receiving a plaque, medal, cash prizes, and certificates. “Everyone can do it with utmost dedication, sacrifice, and passion.
