𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤

𝙱𝚢 𝙼𝚊𝚛𝚢 𝙶𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚎 𝙲𝚘𝚛𝚍𝚘𝚌𝚊 𝙼𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚎 𝚃-𝟷, 𝚂𝚞𝚛𝚒𝚐𝚊𝚘 𝙲𝚒𝚝𝚢 𝙽HS 𝚂𝚞𝚛𝚒𝚐𝚊𝚘 𝙲𝚒𝚝𝚢 𝙳𝚒𝚟𝚒𝚜𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝙈𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙨 𝙊𝙘𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙤 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨. 𝙈𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙚. 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙, 𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙢𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧. 𝘼𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙢𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙤 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮. 𝙎𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙄 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙡 𝙄 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙. After graduation, I visited my family in Surigao City. There, I continued college. I started as a dishwasher during the summer at barbeque houses at the pier (recently port of Eva Macapagal Terminal). Thus, I learned more about the hardships of life. When school commenced in June of 1998 at Saint Paul University Surigao (SPUS, formerly San Nicolas College), I was one of the CHED scholars (Batch 2). My college life was difficult because I needed to work harder as I lost my scholarship after only two years. Nonetheless, I graduated with my BSED Math course in SPUS in March 2002. After that, I took my first Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). But I failed. I did not follow instructions and made many mistakes during the exams, like using the liquid eraser. Still, I worked in the private sector as a computer encoder for three years. But in my third year in the private sector, I gave birth to my daughter. I raised her with the help of my parents. As a mother, I worked as a computer encoder in a Local Government Unit of Barangay San Juan for eleven years. But during those years, I also had two other jobs. Office work in the LGU ends at 5:00 p.m. Then I would work as a computer encoder in a superstore or grocery store to encode barcodes and do other paper works. I also accepted home-based tutoring jobs. It meant I had to work until late at night, going home only after ten o'clock or later. Last 2007, I took again the licensure examination (or five years later.) I failed again. The same thing happened in 2013. But in 2014, I finally passed - after twelve years of trying. This time, I didn't take any review courses at review centers, only self-review but with lots of hard work and prayers. During the examination, I assiduously followed all the instructions of the examination proctor, with no erasures, lightly shaded the answer sheet, cursive writing, and most importantly, my prayers. That's why my success is 99.9% blessing and only 0.1% hard work. This experience deepened my faith in God. I surrendered everything to Him, believing He holds everything in His plan and perfect time. While I continued working at the LGU after passing the LET, I applied for a teaching position in public schools. But I was not hired right away. After almost two years of gaining experience as a substitute teacher, I finally obtained a permanent teaching position in DepEd in 2017, assigned to an island school. My success is not easy, but the struggles and hardships I experienced only helped me learn and continue learning. I can now set an example for my learners and treat them as my children and family because they must know their worth. My story may mirror their experience when, like myself, they develop strong personalities, calmness, humility, generosity, kindness, love, and care for others.
